C4 Prop V3 & Bugs
Monday, 22 March 2010 22:46

The code in the download section labeled "Bomb_sketch6" has a major bug that prevents the code from running correctly with some hardware (more specifics later). If you were using that version and experienced problems, please update to v1.5.

**You can get the new code by clicking this text**

Additionally, I uploaded a version of the code containing the libraries as they existed at compile time, you can download that by clicking this text

Version 3 of the C4 Prop is now completed. The new design loses the tether, and instead "chirps" once per minute (like the Counterstrike version) It is also now fully contained in a larger grey plastic project box, rather than the standard ammo can (but it will still fit in the medium sized ammo can). This served several purposes. First, it lowers the shipping weight considerably; second, it reduces the price by about $8; third, it allows me to make the unit "water resistant". The newest version of the code (1.6.1) also removed the additional push button used for the disarm interrupt. To disarm, you now just press the "#" on the keypad.

**Project page update, store update, and video coming soon**

1.6.1 Changes: (DOWNLOAD HERE)

-Removed pushbutton used for interrupt

-added chirp at 1 minute intervals (every time the counter hits 30 seconds)

1.6.0 Changes: (DOWNLOAD HERE)

-Removed tether

-updated to the newest keypad library

-streamlined disarm code and count down

-fixed some LCD glitches, created new ones.

Bomb Prop V2 Finished
Friday, 08 January 2010 12:22

I finally got around to correcting all the problems with the original idea and created a new prototype.

Change log:

-Fixed low volume buzzer
-timer now correctly removes 15 seconds when less than 15 is left on the countdown.
-Tether has been beefed up to prevent tampering
-more reliable solid state relay for buzzer.
- now uses an atmega168 without the Arduino.

The use of the atmega160 allows me to cut almost $40 off the total cost to build this, which will be reflected in the new price. The new tether is more secure and not as "touchy" as the previous version was, I still wouldn't recommend yanking on it, but it should be safe if someone trips over it.

Bomb Prop Schematic

I finally got around to drawing up a basic wiring diagram of the bomb prop. Sorry for the rough design, I am a  Eagle Layout Editor noob.
